Our Story

EVEREST makes winter outerwear for the city. We started with one coat: a slim, quilted parka in five colors, made for the cold days between home, work and everywhere after.

1922

That year, a British expedition set out to climb Everest. Most of the team dressed in wool and tweed, the mountain wear of the time. One climber, George Finch, brought something new: a quilted, insulated coat he had made from balloon fabric. His teammates laughed at it.

Finch went on to climb higher than anyone before him, and by the end of the expedition nobody was laughing at the coat. Many trace the modern puffer back to that moment.

Street level

EVEREST is an independent label, not connected to the expedition. We kept the name and the idea, and brought both into the city. We make winter outerwear for the walk to work, the wait on the platform, the dinner that runs late and the weekend out of town. Clean lines, a close cut, nothing extra.

The parka

The Everest Parka has quilted insulation, a high stand collar, an adjustable hood, zippered chest pockets and adjustable cuffs. It is cut slim, so it sits clean over a shirt or a light knit. Black, Glacier Gray, Olive, Cobalt and Summit Orange. Sizes S to XL.

The mark

Our symbol is a ridge line drawn from the shape of a summit. Sharp, simple and easy to recognize, the way we want everything we make to be.
